“The Middle East, particularly the Gulf, has substantial spending power. Some of the world’s wealthiest countries are in Kenya’s neighbourhood with deep historical ties to East Africa.”

I was quoted in Tourism Update on Kenya’s ambition to attract more visitors from the Middle East. I highlighted the region’s spending power, proximity and historical ties to the Swahili Coast, alongside the appeal of Kenya’s cooler highlands during the Gulf summer. I also stressed the need for better direct air access, good value and hospitality that understands visitors’ cultural and religious preferences.
